Norwich City moved into the promotion places in Premier B after beating visitors Havering 2-1 in a tight encounter at Taverham.

The hard-earned three points took City up to second place, a point above inactive Wapping II who they entertain next Saturday.

Cameron Cooke and Jeremy Elliott scored the goals for the hosts, who are now preparing for two games in two days, with a re-arranged fixture at in-form neighbours Dereham coming up on Sunday.

Harleston Magpies' outside hopes of promotion from the Premier Division all but disappeared when they went down 4-3 at leaders City of Peterborough. They are now 10 points adrift of top spot, with just five games left to play.

After going into the break 3-0 down, player-coach Tim Whiteman had some stern words for his team and they got back in it when Sam Paterson despatched a penalty stroke after being crudely fouled in the area. Harleston had now found their feet and fired in a quick second when Archie Winter dispatched from close range.

Peterborough then restored their two-goal advantage but the visitors were not done and Whiteman stepped up to go past four defenders at a short corner and calmly slot home.

Harleston continued to press and created two more clear-cut chances, with one cleared off the line and one missed at the near post, but they could not prevent only a second league defeat of the season.

Magpies' second team made it 18 straight wins in Division Two North with a 2-1 success at UEA while Norwich Dragons moved up a couple of places to sixth courtesy of a 4-3 victory over City of Peterborough III, Man-of-the-match Alex Browne scored twice while Tom Vaughan and Josh Wiggins also hit the target.

Youngsters Wiggins, Ed Murphy and Max Laming all played well in a dramatic game which was settled by Wiggins' well-taken late goal.

Harleston Magpies Mixed team recorded an 11-0 win at Bury St Edmunds in the third round of the national Mixed competition. The goals came from Simon Hipwell (3), Sam Paterson (2), Lucy Whiting (2), Lauren Rowe (2), Richard Larkin and Stu Field,
