Elliott Bennett insists Norwich City's squad is in the mood to right a few wrongs against Luton this weekend in the FA Cup to banish memories of a Premier League mauling at Liverpool.

Bennett was typically forthright yesterday when prompted to deliver a frank assessment of the Canaries' efforts at Anfield.

'After a bad result and performance you can't wait to get back out there to make sure you put it right,' he said. 'It is Luton and we've got to match their work ethic and energy and get back to winning ways, and put the Liverpool game to bed and get through to the next round of the FA Cup. Then we can look forward to Spurs.

'The atmosphere is going to be brilliant and that's what you want. Our fans are going to get right behind us as they always do. We are mightily disappointed that we sent 1,800 people home very, very unhappy who had battled the weather. If anything we owe just the 1,800 (travelling fans) something, never mind the rest of the people turning up. We know what we have to do and I'm sure our attitude will be bang on and we're looking forward to playing against Luton.'

Bennett insisted there will be no Liverpool hangover.

'We're an honest group of players and when you drop below the high standards we've set ourselves this season, it's very disappointing, especially when you have 1,800 fans braving the weather,' he said.

'We all know it's not good enough and after the meeting we had on Monday we've kind of put it to bed and look forward to the forthcoming games.

'We came in on Monday, trained in the morning and went through the whole 90 minutes in the afternoon, which wasn't nice viewing, seeing it again after being involved in it. You have to do it and we picked the bones out of what we need to do better and need to make sure we put it right on Saturday.'

The 24-year-old's personal disappointment was compounded by a rare Premier League start at Liverpool.

'I've had to bide my time to get a starting place and it's far from ideal with the result and performance we put in,' he said.

'It happens and I was just as disappointed as anyone and went home and reflected on the game on Saturday night and Sunday and we came in Monday to try to go over it and put it right. I'm disappointed in the fact that we lost, but I've just got to move on now. It's tough because it wasn't just the defeat. It was the performance we put in. You have to take it on your chin. We can't change what happened. We've looked at how to make it better and make sure it doesn't happen again.'
