Norwich City have called on the same international expertise as Liverpool and the FA to headhunt their next chief executive.

Spencer Stuart have been tasked with finding City's replacement for David McNally and chairman Ed Balls is determined to take every possible opportunity to get the right person in after what will be a considered process.

'The initial feedback is really positive because this is a great club to work for with strong values, stable ownership, a community club with a real chance to succeed next year and come back up to the Premier League,' said Balls.

'Spencer Stuart have a lot of experience doing chief executive recruitment in general, but have a particular experience of the footballing business. They are currently looking for the chair of the Football Association and the new chief executive at Liverpool.

'We decided to get the best to help us, and that means we don't just have to wait to see who comes to us. But also we will go out and look right across the whole football world and potentially more widely – although I think we're looking for deep football experience – to make sure we get the best.'
