Neil Adams will relish the task of trying to plot Liverpool's downfall in an epic Carrow Road game which carries repercussions at both ends of the Premier League.

City must halt the Reds' march to a first top flight crown since 1990 to boost their own flagging survival chances after slipping to a 1-0 defeat at Fulham in Adams' first match since replacing Chris Hughton. Adams is confident the manner of Norwich's display at Craven Cottage gives them a chance of pulling off a major upset.

'It would be a lot tougher to pick them up if we had not given a good account of ourselves or been rolled over and trampled,' he said. 'They delivered from Monday to Friday and delivered in terms of the commitment and attitude in the game. It is tough picking up a team after a defeat but when they look back they will realise there is a lot there and we can take that on again in the next four games we will have a great chance. I said to the players afterwards if they give me that effort, and I don't just mean running around the pitch, but in a tactical sense, we will give it a go. That is minimum requirement now and we'll be ready tactically. We won't just turn out the same again. We will feel we can look to beat Liverpool and we have this period to work on it. We need to pick up points in these four games but we believe we can do it.'

Adams is also banking on the Carrow Road factor working in his side's favour, with the former player and media pundit looking for a special atmosphere from the home support.

'There are a lot of Norwich fans who have been at Carrow Road when we have turned big teams over. They know and I know what sort of atmosphere they can generate and that translates to the players,' he said. 'I have played in games there where we have beaten big teams and watched plenty of matches when Norwich have turned the form book upside down and one or two of the big teams would confirm that. You always get fired up for the big teams so we say bring it on, we'll be ready for it. I don't think the pressure is any less irrespective of who we play now.'
