Sebastien Bassong's Norwich City future is set to become much clearer after Alex Neil revealed he plans talks with the club's former player of the year.

Basssong is back at his parent club following an 11-game loan stint with Championship promotion rivals Watford. The 28-year-old played no part under Neil Adams but with Carlos Cuellar (thigh) and Ryan Bennett (hamstring) injured the new boss is keeping an open-mind over Bassong's next move.

'I will be meeting Seb on Monday and we'll see where we go from there. The full squad is going to be needed between now and the end of the season and the backroom team as well,' said Neil. 'It's not just about me, everyone is going to have to play their part to be successful. We'll do our very best to make sure we can kick on and win as many games as we can.'

Bennett's injury will be assessed over the coming days after lasting just eight minutes at Bournemouth.

'We had to make a quick change because (Steven) Whittaker was struggling with illness and we had to put him on,' said Neil. 'I don't think he was fully warmed up because Whittaker had been sick and he tries to open his legs up and just tweaked his hamstring so we'll see the extent of that once the scan has been done.'
