Norwich City reached the last 16 of the national EH Trophy with a 4-3 win at Letchworth.
Despite missing a couple of players and taking only a small squad, City started brightly and it was no surprise when they took the lead with a short corner variation deflected in by Chris Wardale.
Wardale soon added a second when Nick Jones' long ball was deftly deflected over the advancing keeper and midway through the half Jones scored the third after a one-two with Pete Morgan. Letchworth reduced the arrears from a short corner and two more goals pulled them level midway through the second half. Under increasing pressure City dug deep and, following a short corner, Chris Perry played a one-two with Jez Elliott and grabbed the winner.
• Holt Harlequins pulled off another stunning victory in the EH Vase, beating South Buckinghamshire 3-1.
Ed Plumb put them ahead from a penalty corner in the first half and Andy Day pulled off some fantastic saves to keep them ahead before Harry Gill and Mark Farmer-Wright combined to produce an excellent second. South Bucks pulled one back but Charlie Mack, Pete Thornett and Henry Sayer combined to give Holt the last word – and a trip to Yorkshire to face Richmond in the quarter-finals on March 3.
