Norwich City 2, Everton 1

Everton led at the interval thanks to Leon Osman's 39th-minute header from a cross by Leighton Baines, but the introduction of substitute Kei Kamara after nearly an hour turned the game in the Canaries' favour.

The on-loan Kamara headed his first Premier League goal after 84 minutes when he rose to meet a Robert Snodgrass corner, setting up a grandstand finish.

And with three minutes of time added on, it was just enough for Holt to poke home his first goal since December 8 when he met Russell Martin's cross to send Carrow Road wild. Everton boss David Moyes came on to the pitch at the end to remonstrate with referee Lee Mason over the amount of time added on, but for Chris Hughton's men it was a precious victory snatched from the jaws of defeat.

It was City's first win over Everton since 1994.

City showed two changes to the team that started the goalless draw against Fulham a fortnight earlier. Skipper Grant Holt recovered from a back spasm and returned in attack to partner new signing Luciano Becchio, and there was a recall in midfield for Jonny Howson in the absence of Alex Tettey, who missed training this week after suffering a knock.

Anthony Pilkington shook off the hamstring problem that ruled him out of the Fulham game, but had to settle for a place on the bench. On-loan striker Kei Kamara was also among the substitutes.

Everton also showed two changes after the 2-2 FA Cup draw at Oldham with full-back Seamus Coleman returning from injury after five weeks out and Steven Naismith, who scored in the Goodison Park fixture against City, also recalled.

Striker Victor Anichebe was ruled out by injury and club captain Phil Neville dropped to the bench.

City almost made the breakthrough on five minutes when Hoolahan, starting in a wide left role, found Snodgrass on the left side of the Everton area and he made space for a low shot that was goalbound but deflected off Distin and out for a corner.

Everton hit back with interest and after a cross from Coleman deflected off Bassong and had to be scrambled away by Bunn, they went closer still when Jelavic chested down Distin's through ball and forced the keeper to save low to his right.

Howson livened things up after 18 minutes with a determined run into Everton territory but when he chose to shoot, his effort struck the back of Holt as the striker ran across the penalty area.

Turner blocked a shot by Fellaini on the edge of the Norwich area and as they counter-attacked, Howard claimed a cross from Holt, under pressure from Becchio.

Fellaini tried his luck again from 20 yards after Hoolahan had been caught in possession, but he fired high over the top.

A clash between Johnson and Fellaini led to angry exchanges with City getting the free-kick for a flying arm from the Everton man, but Fellaini left with blood running from his left knee following the original challenge.

Surprisingly there was no yellow card for either player, but after Howard had punched clear the resulting free-kick from Snodgrass, Holt might have put City ahead when Howard smothered his effort at close range.

Six minutes before the break, however, it was Everton who went ahead through Osman. From a Baines free-kick, Fellaini and Pienaar combined on the left and the overlapping Baines' cross went over the heads of Bassong and Johnson to give Osman a free header past Bunn.

Baines was shown the yellow card two minutes before the break for a deliberate block on Snodgrass.

Jagielka blocked a shot by Howson at the expense of a corner, then Hoolahan had a shot deflected into the path of Howard.

Everton were pushing for a second goal and seven minutes after the break Pienaar got away down the left and his cross flew across the six-yard box with no one able to apply the finishing touch.

Holt was booked for a foul on Coleman, and Becchio's frustration showed with a needless shove on Osman.

With 58 minutes gone, Becchio made way for fellow newcomer Kamara to see if he could provide more spark, and immediately he produced a scissor kick from a Snodgrass cross that brought Howard into action.

Kamara's introduction brought the crowd to life, but they were equally animated because of some of referee Mason's decisions.

Kamara headed just wide from a Hoolahan cross midway through the half when he might have done better, but at least his pace and energy had rejuvenated Norwich.

Gibson reminded City of the Everton threat when he curled a shot just over the bar following a corner, and then Coleman fired narrowly over the angle of post and bar.

Pilkington replaced Hoolahan with 73 minutes gone as Hughton made his second change and, with 12 minutes left, Everton replaced Jelavic with Mirallas.

Pienaar blazed a shot high into the Barclay Stand with seven minutes left, but good work by Pilkington earned a corner that brought a dramatic equaliser from substitute Kamara.

Snodgrass took the kick from the left and Kamara timed his run well, getting ahead of Fellaini to head home.

Everton sent on Oviedo for Pienaar as City began to press for a late winner.

In stoppage time, Mirallas brought a smart save out of Bunn with a powerful drive, but City finished strongly and Distin made a brilliant block on Holt before they snatched a dramatic winner.

More than three minutes of stoppage time had been played when Russell Martin swung in a cross from the left, Bassong jumped for the header and Holt poked the ball past Howard.
