Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup admitted he would have loved to score Gary Hooper's sublime volley in Norwich City's 1-1 Premier League weekend draw against the Welsh side.

Laudrup was widely regarded as one of the best players of the modern era after a glittering career that saw him play for both Barcelona and Real Madrid. Spain's World Cup winner Andres Iniesta has previously labelled the Dane the best player in history, but Laudrup conceded he was envious of Hooper's stunning 30-yard finish in a hard-fought Carrow Road draw.

'I would have loved to have scored a goal like that. Maybe he could have waited a week to score a goal like that,' said Laudrup. 'You have to say it was a fantastic goal. You could always argue about the fact there might be a problem with the distance between the two defenders and the midfield because it was a long ball and I think (Johan) Elmander just dropped it off on his chest and Hooper smashed it. Maybe the distance was too big between the two lines but the strike was fantastic.

'I liked what I saw from him. I think he mixed a lot of good movements. He is always a threat to a defence because of his movement. Norwich play that way with Elmander next to him and two strikers - not too many play that way these days but he is the type who can run off another player and if he scores goals like that then anything is possible.'
