Few people will know the exact value of the undisclosed deal Leicester struck with Norwich but it's fair to say it's shattered the Canaries' transfer record.

A package worth in excess of £20million, potentially rising to £24m, is the region the Foxes entered to secure the England Under-21 international and that obliterates City's previous record sale.

Huddersfield agreed a deal worth up to £14m for Alex Pritchard in January a year after Burnley signed up to a deal worth a potential £13m for Robbie Brady.

It shows how much money has entered football since Chris Sutton was sold to Blackburn by City for a British record £5m in 1994, or to go further back, City's first £1million sale when Kevin Reeves joined Manchester City in 1980.

However, pinning an exact value to a deal isn't easy, with big-money transfers often paid in instalments, dependent on performance-related fees and potentially worth more after a sell-on fee.

The first time the Canaries brought in six figures was back in 1973, when David Cross was sold to Coventry for £150,000 after his 30 goals in 107 games had helped earn the club's first promotion to the top flight in 1972.

Nowadays multi-million sales are common for City though, with the Murphy twins both emerging from the academy ranks to secure deals worth in excess of £10m in the past year, following the big-money sales of Nathan Redmond and Leroy Fer.
