Garry Monk is not distracted by speculation linking him with Norwich City ahead of the Canaries' Championship visit to Leeds United.

Monk is reportedly on Stuart Webber's shortlist to be installed as Norwich's head coach at the end of the season after guiding the Whites into play-off contention.

The former Swansea chief is yet to pledge his longer term future to Leeds but Monk insisted at his pre-match press call on Thursday lunchtime his focus remains on beating the Canaries this weekend.

Leeds slipped out of the top six after losing at Burton to fall two points behind sixth-placed Fulham ahead of the final two league games.

'It's the same type of rumours there have been over the past few months with the players as well. It's not my focus,' he said. 'I have not spoken to the club about anything at all. The club said they want to sit down and talk in June and that's fine. I have to respect the club. We'll need to sit down and agree on plans to move forward.

'Overall it's been a really successful season. The disappointment has been the last few games. But I am incredibly proud of the group. There's no getting away from it, we were hurt after Burton. But we still have a chance and we have to try and grasp it with both hands. Our job is to take care of our own.'

Monk is looking to complete a league double over the Canaries after a late 3-2 win at Carrow Road in November. Leeds also edged a penalty shoot-out victory in the League Cup on home soil earlier this season.

'Norwich is really experienced and a talented squad. They are always going to be a dangerous side. But it's about us and we want to finish off at Elland Road on a high. We have to make sure it's one more enjoyable day,' he said. 'We have no time to feel sorry for ourselves. To be within two games of having a chance of being in the play-offs, I don't think anybody envisaged that at the start of the season. But of course there is the hurt having been in the play-offs for so long.

'The chance is slimmer than it was before but we have seen it happen in football many times. If we can win this game and take it to the last game then we have seen it many times. There will be a full house at Elland Road on Saturday and we want to give a good account of ourselves. We want to finish on our terms and see where it takes us.'
