Norwich City have confirmed the appointment of the club's new head of scouting, Lee Darnbrough.

The Canaries have been searching for a replacement for Barry Simmonds since the former Fulham chief scout left Carrow Road in March.

That replacement has now been found, with 37-year-old Darnbrough set to lead City's scouting and match analysis operation, having previously held a similar role at Burnley.

Prior to taking up that role at Turf Moor in 2012, Darnbrough worked at West Bromwich Albion as a technical scout, where he played a key role in the signing of midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu from Paris Saint-Germain in 2009 – who has signed for the Canaries this summer.

'I am delighted to have been brought into the club and saw this as a great opportunity to join a positive team environment, so I'm really pleased to be here,' Darnbrough told City's official website.

'Naturally, with the start of the transfer window, it's a busy time and I'm really enjoying it.'

Darnbrough joins City's executive football board, alongside chief executive David McNally, first team manager Alex Neil and technical director Ricky Martin.

A statement released by Burnley when Darnbrough left the club at the end of May, said: 'Lee, who joined the club in December 2012, worked closely in tandem with former chief executive Lee Hoos and manager Sean Dyche in transfer business, contract negotiations and performance analysis.

'The former Oldham Athletic goalkeeper has previously worked in player analysis for Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa and later enjoyed a spell with West Bromwich Albion in the specialist role of recruitment.

'Burnley Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to Lee for his efforts and wish him well in his future career.'
