Norwich City's former loan striker Kei Kamara has labelled his Canaries' stint as an unforgettable experience as he prepares to make his MLS return for Sporting Kansas.

Kamara is poised to be drafted back into Peter Vermes' squad for Wednesday's game against Seattle after making the last of his 11 senior Norwich appearances in the weekend Premier League defeat to Aston Villa. City declined an option to complete a permanent move for the 28-year-old, but Kamara had no regrets about grabbing his shot at the big time.

'I went over there just to prove myself, live my dream and show that I can play,' he said. 'After a few games went by and I was doing well, I was really happy about the situation. But at the same time, I knew that whatever happened, it was going to be a win-win. I'm not surprised that it didn't happen. The club is not safe, and if they had picked up my option and been relegated, I could have been, 'Oh, maybe it's better for me to pick up and go back home.'

'I said it before I went over there it was a dream to go overseas and play, but if it never happened, I wouldn't have regretted it. My dream was always that I wanted to play pro soccer, I'm playing professional soccer in America, in the top league in America, so I would never have regretted anything.'

Kamara's decisive late cameo in the 2-1 Premier League win against Everton brought him the only goal of his Canaries' stint, and created a small piece of history as the first Sierre Leone player to score in the English top flight.

'Scoring a goal at home against Everton, against Tim Howard — it was amazing,' he said. 'I found out all the history about it after the game, but it was something I will never forget. I think I held my own. It wasn't easy, but at the same time it was a different experience. The reason why I enjoyed it so much was from my first game when I stepped on the field for Norwich City at Carrow Road, the fans showed me so much love.'

Kansas boss Vermes revealed a number of potential suitors in Europe have already been in touch and admitted he was surprised the Canaries opted not to keep Kamara beyond the current season.

'I thought he was gone,' Vermes told the club's official site. 'Honestly, I thought he was gone. I thought they were going to pick him up. It's interesting that they didn't and we're the ones who are the fortunate ones now. I was a little concerned before I talked to him because I wanted to see what his reaction would be, but he was tremendous. His attitude was perfect. He was like, 'Look, I'm excited. I'm coming home. I'm ready. I'm getting on the first flight.' It's a great situation. It's not like he hasn't been playing. He's been playing week after week. It's not like he's completely out of shape or something.'
