‘Everyone did it down to a tee’ – Murphy not bitter about the one that got away

Norwich City's FA Cup draw with Chelsea is more evidence of what they are capable of, shows what according to Josh Murphy.

Daniel Farke's Canaries held out for a goalless draw at Carrow Road, to book a third-round replay at Stamford Bridgeand a tentative place in Monday's fourth-round draw.
Alongside pushing Arsenal so close at the Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup, City have saved their best for Premier League opponents – despite an ultimately disappointing Championship campaign so far.
Murphy had some of the brightest opportunities during his industrious night's work at Carrow Road against last season's FA Cup finalists, and felt he and his team-mates could be proud of their efforts.
'This and Arsenal just shows how resilient we are,' said the 22-year-old forward. 'We might have had a couple of blips during the season but we've been up against the big boys and we've held our own twice now.

'So I think it's great credit to the backroom staff and the boys, just with how well we can cope with stuff like that and on any other day, maybe we can win games like that.
'I'm very proud. I thought the boys were excellent. You could see the togetherness, grit and determination we showed. I think we battled well and got what we deserved.

'We had to dig in deep and we knew they were going to have a lot of the ball. So it was about sticking to the jobs the manager set us out to do and I think everyone did it down to a tee.
'It was a little bit of a different plan. You could see at the top end of the pitch it was just me, Pritchard (Alex Pritchard) and Madders (James Maddison), and then we had a lot of steel at the back – plus Alex (Tettey) and Tom (Trybull) sitting in there. So I thought we had the right balance and everyone did well.

'I'm disappointed that one in the first half didn't go into the back of the net, but I thought we created a good couple of half chances and on another day they go in.'
Not only that. Norwich's on-loan Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn could enjoy a relatively trouble-free Carrow Road evening.
'I was surprised he had quite a quiet evening,' added Murphy. 'He made a good couple of saves, to be fair to him. But he's just there. He keeps his concentration, and he always does that for every game he plays in. It was kind of a relief that he didn't have much to do.'
