Canaries midfielder Jonny Howson has lost his appeal against his red card at Bournemouth last weekend.

The midfielder will serve a three-match ban - Saturday's home game against Cardiff City, plus the game against Brentford and Birmingham City.

Howson was shown a straight red card by referee Chris Foy for a tackle on Yann Kermorgant.

In a statement, the FA said: 'Norwich City's Jonathan Howson will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after his claim of wrongful dismissal was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Tuesday 13 January 2015].

Howson was dismissed for serious foul play during the game against AFC Bournemouth on 10 January 2015.'
