Fit-again Norwich City striker James Vaughan will be in the squad for Saturday's Premier League trip to Blackburn.

Paul Lambert confirmed on Friday morning the former England U21 international will travel with the rest of the first team pool later today as he looks to play some part over the Canaries' top flight run-in. The City chief opted not to send Vaughan to Swansea for the club's reserve league finale in midweek, but the 23-year-old is back in contention after recovering from a hamstring problem. Vaughan's Carrow Road career to date has so far been hampered a series of injuries following his permanent move from Everton. Centre back Zak Whitbread (calf) is still ruled out for the trip to Ewood Park with Lambert's men on the verge of sealing their Premier League survival.

The Scot, however, is well aware relegation-threatened Blackburn are desperate for the points amidst a potential backdrop of fresh fan-led protests pre-match against Rovers' chief Steve Kean and the club's hierarchy.

'I'm expecting a really hard game. I know they are under pressure from all quarters to try and get a result,' said Lambert. 'I can't influence what is happening up there. You feel for Steve Kean and what he has had to go through. A fans' protest is never right, but they still have enough time to survive. The points are still there, although they have quite a tough run-in but I have my own focus to concentrate on.

'I said it after last Saturday that I don't want the season to go out with a whimper. We want to keep trying to push on; to keep going. My main concern is that we keep going into games knowing we have to win them. We have four good ones to finish it off and this will be no different. There are things to play for and we'll have a big crowd up there but the onus is on the home team to make the running. When the crowd get on your backs then some players hide from it. We have to make sure we get at them and make the crowd even more against them.

'Zak is struggling with his calf so he has no chance for this weekend. Vaughny has now trained with us for a good bit. There was a reserve game in midweek, but we just felt training with us was going to be more beneficial. He is in the squad tomorrow, so I'll see when we get up there.'

Defenders Dani Ayala (knee) and Marc Tierney (groin) remain longer term absentees. Young midfielder Tom Adeyemi also picked up an injury in the midweek reserve game at Swansea.
