Martin Olsson says new Swansea City manager Paul Clement was a key motivation for his switch from Norwich City.
The transfer had dragged on since the middle of last week, when news broke of a reported £4.5million fee being agreed for the Sweden international.
The Premier League side confirmed the deal has been completed earlier today, with Olsson signing a two-and-a-half year contract, with the option for a third year.
The 28-year-old joined the Canaries in the summer of 2013 from Blackburn Rovers in a deal worth around £2.5m and has gone on to make 129 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
He came close to leaving Carrow Road two years ago following City's relegation back to the Championship but after failing to agree personal terms with West Brom on deadline day, an exchange deal for Graham Dorrans collapsed.
Olsson was again linked with top-flight clubs, including Swansea, last summer following another top-flight relegation for the Canaries.
He now joins the team bottom of the Premier League – although only a point from safety – who have recently appointed former Derby boss Clement as their head coach in an attempt to spark a survival push, who Olsson previously worked with when Clement was coaching at Blackburn.
'I've known Paul for a few years and he's a good man,' said Olsson, who trained with his new team-mates for the first time this morning, including former City team-mate Leroy Fer and international team-mate Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
'I like the way he trains – it is intense – and I can't wait to start working with him.
'The squad plays good football, even with the position the team is in now, and I don't think the club should be down there. It's a good team.
'A few seasons ago Swansea were very high up in the table, and they haven't lost too many players since then.
'With the way we play, we should be up there. Hopefully Paul comes in with his tactics and makes it work.'
Olsson could now make his debut at Liverpool in a Premier League encounter on Saturday (12.30pm), with Neil Taylor suffering a broken cheekbone earlier this week.
'You always need competition for places,' Olsson continued, speaking to his new club's official website. 'Neil is injured at the moment, but he will be back and we will have strong competition for the left-back spot – I'm up for that.
'I want to work hard, enjoy it and do everything I can for the club. I just want to get into the team and start playing.'
