Harry Toffolo aims to prove he is no one-hit wonder at Norwich City

The 20-year-old could have marked his maiden outing with a second-half goal, but for a sharp stop from Adam Collin, and Toffolo's display drew praise from Alex Neil. The England youth international is currently in talks over a new deal following an eye-catching season-long loan at League One Swindon last season which has pushed him into Neil's first team plans.

Toffolo was a regular during Norwich's pre-season build-up and saw plenty of active service with Martin Olsson still working his way back to full fitness following summer shoulder surgery. The FA Youth Cup winner knows he has to grab any chance to make his mark with competition for places intense in Neil's first team set-up.

'I don't want this to be it for me now though. I've got my Norwich debut under my belt, but want to kick on and keep impressing,' he said. 'It would have made for a dream debut to score, but unfortunately it wasn't to be. The gaffer has shown faith in me following on from pre-season, which I really respect. He's put me in the side and given me the opportunity to show himself, the fans and the other players what I can do.

'I've been here since I was 13 so to make my professional City debut is fantastic. Getting the result we wanted in order to progress to the next round makes it even better.'

Toffolo, speaking to the club's official site, believes his time at Swindon helped fast-track him into the Neil's plans.

'It was a great learning curve for me, and I've come back to the club a different player,' he said. 'I can't thank Swindon enough for my time there. I'm really grateful for everything they did to help me get to this stage.'

• Toffolo's City team mate Kyle Lafferty was included in Northern Ireland's squad on Wednesday for upcoming Euro2016 qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Hungary. Lafferty was back in full training with Norwich this week after a knee injury.
