Former Norwich City striker James Vaughan is being linked with a move to Scottish Premier League champions Celtic, with a huge £6million price tag being touted by one Scottish newspaper.

Vaughan left Carrow Road for Huddersfield Town this summer for a fee believed to be around £750,000, signing a three-year contract.

Officially the transfer fee was announced as undisclosed by the two clubs so it is unclear whether the Canaries included any sell-on clause in the deal.

The Daily Record is reporting that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is keen on Vaughan, who has scored 12 goals in 16 starts in all competition for the Championship club this season, and has even worn the captain's armband in some games.

Vaughan was signed by former Canaries boss Paul Lambert as he tried to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the club's return to the Premier League in the summer of 2011.

An injury-hit first season saw the former Everton and Crystal Palace striker make just six appearances for City during 2011/12 and he joined the Terriers on a season-long loan for the 2012/13 season, going on to score 14 goals.

Lennon is said to have scouted the 25-year-old on Saturday, as he scored in a 2-1 home win against Burnley, and is expected to watch him play again tonight when Huddersfield play at Bolton.

Ironically Vaughan could end up being the man to replace Norwich striker Gary Hooper at Celtic Park, who moved to Norfolk in a £5million summer deal.

Celtic are five points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League but are yet to fully replace Hooper, who scored 31 goals for the Hoops last season, with midfielder Kris Commons their top scorer so far with 10 goals in all competitions.
