Former Norwich City goalkeeper Jed Steer has been sent out on loan by Aston Villa.

The 21-year-old former Reepham High School student has joined League One side Doncaster Rovers on a three-month loan deal.

Steer made two appearances in the FA Cup as a youngster for the Canaries, having come through the club's academy system.

He then followed former City manager Paul Lambert to Aston Villa in the summer of 2013. A tribunal earlier this year ordered Villa to pay a fee of £450,000 for the former England Under-19 keeper, with a further £500,000 to be paid depending on appearances.

Steer started one FA Cup game and two Capital One Cup game for Villa last season but was regularly an unused substitute during Premier League games, as cover for Brad Guzan.
