Former Norwich City academy youngster Matt Ball is poised to join League One club Stevenage.
The midfielder had been training with Borough and impressed in the second half of a trial match against a Tottenham XI earlier this week, which Stevenage lost 2-0.
Ball had a loan spell at Macclesfield Town last season, but was released by ex-Canaries' boss Paul Lambert this summer along with the likes of Aaron Wilbraham and Zak Whitbread.
Stevenage boss Gary Smith believes the Northern Ireland youth international will be a useful signing.
He said: 'There's some nice technical ability there and I think he's somebody I think we can work with and add some qualities too.'
