Norwich City keeper John Ruddy has been included in Roy Hodgson's England squad for crucial World Cup qualifiers next month against Moldova and Ukraine

Ruddy returned to the Three Lions' set-up for the recent friendly win over Scotland at Wembley after a thigh injury wrecked the second part of last season's Premier League campaign. The 26-year-old is joined in the squad by former City loan keeper Fraser Forster with West Brom's Ben Foster ruled out for upto three months after breaking a bone in his foot.

Everton's Ross Barkley, who capped an impressive goalscoring opening day display in the Toffees' 2-2 Premier League draw at Norwich, was the surprise inclusion in Hodgson's latest senior squad.

Ruddy's Norwich team mate, Nathan Redmond, has also retained his place in the England Under-21s squad named by new boss Gareth Southgate for a Uefa Euro2015 double header against Moldova in Reading and an away trip to Finland after a starring role in the 6-0 friendly win over Scotland's under-21s in Sheffield earlier this month.

Ruddy joins Scotland trio Robert Snodgrass, Russell Martin and Steven Whittaker on pending World Cup qualifying duty after this weekend's Premier League home game againt Southampton whilst Wes Hoolahan and Anthony Pilkington have been named in the Republic of Ireland's 29-man provisional squad for World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria. City's Swedish duo Johan Elmander and Martin Olsson could face Hoolahan and Pilkington after being included in their country's squad for the crunch trip to Dublin on September 6.
