Norwich City loan striker Stephen Elliott has been told he is free to leave his parent club Preston.

North End manager Darren Ferguson has named 12 players who have no future at Deepdale, and Elliott is among them.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international moved to Carrow Road on an emergency loan deal in March and has made 10 appearances and scored two goals - both in a 3-1 win at Huddersfield in his second outing.

He failed to make it to half-time of City's win at Bristol Rovers on Saturday after picking up an injury and his fitness was due to be assessed this week, before the final game of the season against Carlisle.

Ferguson has told Neil Mellor, Richard Chaplow and Darren Carter they can leave, as well as Neil Collins and Eddie Nolan - who are both out on loan - while Elliott Ward and Tom Williams won't be offered deals after loan spells from Coventry and Peterborough respectively.

Veliche Shumulikoski has been paid up, while Chris Sedgwick and Liam Chilvers won't be offered new deals when their contracts end in the summer.
