Norwich City boss Chris Hughton wants his squad to put all thoughts of League Cup glory on the backburner and concentrate on getting all three points at home to Stoke City tomorrow afternoon.

The 53-year-old will leave it to the supporters to salivate over a quarter-final tie against Paul Lambert's Aston Villa next month in the Capital One Cup.

There are seven Premier League games before that tie and Hughton wants his players fully focused on the top-flight grind.

Stoke are more than capable of bursting a Canaries bubble which has seen the squad finally adjust to the demands placed upon them by Hughton.

He said: 'They are really tough opposition – they are a well-disciplined, hard working team who have a lot of quality in the side.

'What they are is a very well-established Premier League team now. I don't think anybody expects anything different against Stoke, home or away. They have had a lot of the big teams already and some of their results against those have not gone as well as they would like but they have been close games. They have brought better quality in every year. They have a way of playing they know very well and I am sure they will have another good season.'

Russell Martin is the only injury worry ahead of the Potters' visit after the back injury he sustained at Villa Park. The defender hasn't trained since while Hughton will see how Whittaker recovers from his first full 90 minutes since an ankle injury picked up in pre-season.

'Russell is in with a chance. It's about how it settles down and certainly over today and tomorrow. He has made big improvements since the weekend but it is the type of injury that for the first couple of days will be very sore for him. We hope he'll make it.

'Steven was fine today but there is probably some adrenaline still flowing. It can hit you on the second day. It was a tough one for him with him up against the wide players they have. He is very much in my thoughts.'
