Speculation linking Norwich City assistant manager Colin Calderwood with the managerial vacancy at Northampton Town has been dismissed by Canaries boss Chris Hughton.
Calderwood led the Cobblers to automatic promotion from League Two in 2006, after two previous failures in the play-offs, and then left for Nottingham Forest.
The former Swindon Town and Tottenham Hotspur defender led Forest back to the Championship but was sacked with his side struggling at the wrong end of the table and then joined up with Hughton at Newcastle United.
He then had an unsuccessful spell as manager of Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League, before joining up with Hughton against at Birmingham City and subsequently at Norwich.
Bookmakers were offering odds as short as 4/7 for Calderwood to return to Northampton yesterday, but Hughton said he was not aware of his assistant being linked with the vacancy.
'That's news to me,' the City boss said. 'If anything like that has been mentioned, I presume it's because he was an ex-manager there but it's absolutely nothing that I am aware of.
'What you're telling me now is actually first-hand news, the first I've heard of it.'
