Chris Hughton admits Norwich City's sparse goal output is doing nothing for his anxiety levels or those of the supporters.

City last scored more than once in a game back on December 7 in a 2-0 Premier League win at West Brom – a run of 14 matches in all competitions, which continued with the slender 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Carrow Road.

Norwich moved four points clear of the bottom three ahead of a weekend league trip to Aston Villa, but solving that conundrum remains Hughton's priority.

'We're due a game where we make life a little bit more comfortable for ourselves,' he said. 'One of these days we just need to get that second goal to alleviate the pressure on the team.

'We are conscious of the fact we are not scoring enough goals. Certainly confidence comes into play and a level of composure and maybe even a touch of good fortune. We are buoyed by the fact we are creating chances, but we need to put a higher percentage away. There is nobody working harder than myself and the coaches to remedy that. There might have been a period in the season when we were guilty of not creating enough clear-cut chances; I don't believe that is the case now and I feel it is something that can turn on any given moment.

'But there is no doubt we are heaping a little bit more pressure on ourselves which makes the last part of games feel a lot longer. For teams at our level it is very difficult to keep clean sheets and score lots of goals, but the fans can see how hard we are working to get those clean sheets and they have got behind us, especially in the last two home games.'
