Chris Hughton has challenged his Norwich City players to make the most of the feelgood factor from a battling Premier League victory at West Brom.

The Canaries secured only their second away win in the top flight this season at the Hawthorns with Gary Hooper and Leroy Fer on target in either half and Hughton is adamant that result can be a catalyst for upcoming league tests against Swansea, Sunderland and Fulham.

'When you win it changes everything,' he said. 'The mood going into training when they come back in, the feel around the place and we want more of that. We have been very up and down.

'We have never lost sight of where we are as a club. We have spent by our standards big in the summer, although a lot on that was on two strikers. This is our third season back in the division and I understand expectations rise but we finished in a very, very good position last season and I keep saying it but every game for us is a tough one. The lads will have a couple of days off now and we have an extra day to prepare with Swansea being on the Sunday.'

Hughton revealed he wanted to give those who had under-performed at Liverpool a chance to redeem themselves in the West Midlands.

'I wasn't reluctant to make changes because it is always that balance between wanting to keep a little bit of stability,' he said. 'I went with the same back four at Liverpool that had kept a clean sheet (against Crystal Palace) but we needed to freshen it up in that area. I have players really putting pressure on me for selection and it is always a judgement call.

'What it does do is show the character in the side, which is something we know about. It hurt them at Liverpool and you want it to hurt.'

The City chief reserved special praise for Fer, who struck the match-clinching goal at the Hawthorns after enduring a difficult previous outing on Merseyside.

'Leroy found it a bit tough and we asked him to play in another different role at West Brom) but he came up trumps with a goal,' said Hughton. 'He is still a young man who is coming to terms with the game here because it is completely different in Holland. He is developing in a really nice way and you can see he is learning.'
