Brighton Under-23s 1 Norwich City Under-23s 1

Summer signing Sergi Canos was on target as Norwich City's Under-23s gave a far better account of themselves against Brighton than the first team did on Saturday afternoon.

The young Spaniard cancelled out an early opener from the Seagulls to earn a hard earned point for the Canaries at Crawley Town's Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Canos, who has not played in the Championship since the 3-0 defeat at Birmingham at the end of August, was joined in the Under-23 side by experienced defender Michael Turner, who got some valuable match practice under his belt by playing the full 90 minutes.

Both teams enjoyed spells of possession inside the opening quarter, with Carlton Morris lifting a shot over the crossbar from close range before Jesse Starkey dragged an effort wide of the target at the other end.

Albion made the most of their first clear-cut opportunity and broke the deadlock in the 27th minute with Elvis Manu – an unused substitute on Saturday – tapping in from close range from George Cox's driven cross.

The visitors came close to levelling the game moments later when Dialling Jaiyesimi flicked the ball past the keeper but the winger's effort dropped narrowly wide.

The Canaries made no mistake with their next opportunity however as Canos connected with a flick from Todd Cantwell's corner to restore parity on 37 minutes.

Norwich Under-23: Killip, Efete, Godfrey, Turner, Ramsay, Grant, Canos (Middleton 85), Cantwell, Adams, Jaiyesimi. Morris. Subs not used: Hallett, McIntosh, Odusina, Eaton-Collins.
