It turned into a spicy saga last season and Norwich City's Championship trip to Sheffield United on Saturday marks the latest episode in a modern-day rivalry - if City's coach driver can find the way.

Blades' chief Chris Wilker launched an astonishing broadside following a 1-0 early season home defeat at Bramall Lane, accusing the Canaries of a lack of respect for a series of perceived slights which started with the delayed arrival of the visiting team bus.

Wilder was also unhappy at what he labelled time-wasting during the defeat.

United evened up the score at Carrow Road later in the season, which prompted a dash across the pitch towards the away end from Wilder at the final whistle to celebrate with the travelling support.

But what lies in store this weekend?

Coaching course

Maybe that should be a course in good manners... who can forget United boss Wilder's post-match reaction last season when City went to Bramall Lane and won 1-0, courtesy of Yanic Wildschut?

Wilder had been sent off during the game, after kicking a ball at some Norwich water bottles, and afterwards launched a tirade against the visitors, moaning about time-wasting (standard), and the fact City were late to the stadium. 'There might be a bit of traffic around 1.30pm at a football stadium when about 28,000 are turning up. Do a little bit of homework and possibly set off 10 minutes earlier' – sort of sums up his demeanour.

Anyway, it was City's third clean sheet and the Blades' first Championship defeat in five games. Will sour grapes still be on the menu?

Special greetings

City fans will no doubt afford David McGoldrick the usual honours associated with a former Ipswich player.

The 30-year-old moved to Bramall Lane after his Ipswich contract expired at the end of last season. City striker Jordan Rhodes will no doubt get 'the treatment' too, given he is here on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

Starting orders

City are looking for their first win, while United, having lost their first two, bounced back with a 2-1 win at QPR last weekend. United lost on penalties at home, to Hull in the Carabao Cup in midweek, as City advanced at the expense of Stevenage.

Any links?

The closest is probably John Fleck – nephew of Canaries legend Robert Fleck. Fleck the younger has started all three of the Blades Championship games this season.

Remember this?

Way back in 1959, Sheffield United were one of the sides despatched by the Canaries on their way to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

They were great memories, although for City keeper Ken Nethercott, it was anything but – he suffered a dislocated shoulder with half an hour remaining and City trailing 1-0.

This was before subs, and he insisted on carrying on as City fought back to draw 1-1 and earn a replay.
