Dennis Srbeny admitted opening his Norwich City goal account against Aston Villa was special.

The 23-year-old lashed home from close range in the 3-1 Championship weekend win after eight games without a goal since his January move from German third tier club SC Paderborn.

Srbeny is confident he made the right choice to move to Carrow Road despite interest from higher up the leagues in his homeland.

“It is a dream for every footballer to play in England. Everyone knows the Championship and the Premier League are the best,” he said. “The Premier League is the best in the world for me.

“When I heard from Norwich City I wanted to come straight here. It didn’t matter if any other clubs came for me. I was happy and proud.

“If I think after the game I play against John Terry and I score against him it is a fantastic feeling.

“At first, the assist from Harrison Reed was perfect. I only had to put my foot on the ball and after this I could see the people around the stadium. It was a a great feeling. The best.”

Srbeny feels he is still adapting to English football but knows City face a tough task on Tuesday at relegation-threatened Sunderland.

“I had to get used to the football in the beginning, but now after a lot of training and playing I feel I’m more used to it now,” he said. “It’s more physical in England than in Germany. There are more sprints and duels, so I’d say English football is harder.

““Every footballer wants to win every game.

“It is our task to make sure we try and win every game before the end of the season. And it’s my aim to score some more goals too.

“If we match our team performance from Saturday then we will be very confident.

“We played well against Aston Villa, and Fulham too, and they’re both good sides.

“We’re heading in the right way, and have a really good team when everyone is fit.”
