Norwich City loanees Ben Godfrey and Carlton Morris have been enjoying some time under the national spotlight after helping Shrewsbury Town take West Ham to an FA Cup replay.

The League One title contenders held their Premier League opponents to a 0-0 draw in a televised third round tie at the Montgomery Waters Meadow yesterday.

Tough tackling midfielder Godfrey, who turns 20 next week, was named man-of-the-match and striker Morris was chosen to lead the line by Shrews boss Paul Hurst.

'The atmosphere was sensational – I wish we had that every week,' Canaries academy product Morris said. 'It was an enjoyable game and we put in a decent performance overall.

'I think we should have gone on and won the game, but that's football, it doesn't happen for you sometimes, but it's good that we could put in a performance like we did.'

The 22-year-old has gone 13 games without a goal for Town but has scored six in 29 games overall, as he adds to previous loan spells at Rotherham, Hamilton, York and Oxford.

The 2013 FA Youth Cup winner included Canaries team-mate Godfrey in his praise following the draw.

'I think it shows you how far we've come that we are disappointed to come away with a draw against a Premier League team,' Morris added, speaking to Town's website.

'There's a lot of names and a lot of faces, but at the end of the day everyone's human beings out on the football pitch and that's how we treat them. We were up on them and rattling them the whole game. Abs (Abu Ogogo), Nolo (Jon Nolan) and Ben (Godfrey) were getting tight in midfield for 90 minutes, which is what we do week in week out, and that's what's brought us success, so hopefully we can continue doing that.'

Both City players are on loan for the remainder of the season and now have a trip to the 57,000 capacity London Stadium to look forward to.

'It's exciting but it's just another game,' said Morris.

'We will go there, get our heads down, press up on them and see what we can do. We showed that we can go toe to toe with them and even outperform them, so I don't see why we can't go to their place and do the same thing.'
