Nelson Oliveira deserved to be Norwich City's hero, insisted Daniel Farke after his thumping stoppage time strike sealed a stirring 2-2 Championship comeback at Wolves on Wednesday.

Oliveira embarrassed former City keeper John Ruddy from long range to end his 12-game goal drought in fine style.

Farke opted to hand Dennis Srbeny a full debut but the Portuguese international responded when introduced for a telling late cameo at Molineux.

'There was something like five seconds left and I was urging him to shoot,' said Farke.

'I know Nelson has a fantastic technique with his shooting. Sometimes he might hit the ball in the stand but he can score outstanding goals. The ball can fly high and low when you shoot from that far out.

'Sometimes football is crazy.

'He was waiting so long for a goal and now in the last seconds from 35 yards or so. That is why we love the game.

'Perhaps he should always come from the bench. I'm joking.

'I got the feeling his performances were good and he was working hard but maybe we can bring him on when the opponent is tired. He deserved to be the hero.'

Farke felt City's lack of belief was the reason they were 2-0 down before Christoph Zimmermann earned the Canaries a first half lifeline.

'I can't be prouder,' he said.

'We faced the best team in the league. They were 2-0 up after 20 minutes at home and totally on the front foot. We are able to come back and even though it was another late equaliser it was totally deserved.

'You could see at half-time, Wolves made a change with a midfielder coming on for an offensive player.

'They didn't really have control. We were even more on the front foot in the second half. It is so difficult to create chances against them when they go in the lead. MORE: Have your say on our Pinkun forum

'We are always worried when you go 2-0 down to Wolves. We were not brave enough.

'We had the first big chance with Harrison Reed and it should be us going in the lead. Maybe we were not convinced we can play at that level.

'We spoke about that at half-time and the way the lads played in the second half showed they can play on this level.'

Ivo Pinto was a notable absentee from the squad, with Farke confirming afterwards the captain is still troubled by his knee problem.

'After the last session he said he wanted to play so much but if I am honest with the lads I don't feel 100pc comfortable in my movements,' revealed Farke.

'I have to be honest and Harry has been good in the recent games.

'It shows he knows what it means to be a skipper of this team. Instead of being selfish he said no, I will come back when I am 100pc.'
