Daniel Farke is urging Norwich City fans not to rush to judge young striker Dennis Srbeny.

The 23-year-old was thrust into the spotlight for his full home debut in the midweek 0-0 Championship draw against Nottingham Forest, following Nelson Oliveira's surprise demotion.

Srbeny was top scorer in the German third tier before a big January move to England and Farke is backing the frontman to prove his worth at Carrow Road.

'It would be a little unfair when all my other attacking players are 13 games without a goal or maybe 13 games and one goal to expect Dennis is here after two games with seven goals,' said Farke.

'I am content with his attitude and work. He knows himself he is not on the top level at 100pc yet but I believe he can go further on and if he continues to work he will be there with some goals for us.

'It was only his second game in the starting line up.

'He worked a lot and also in the pressing he was good for us.

'You can see he struggles a bit in terms of adapting to the physical side of this league. That is quite normal.

'I think he has a good instinct and anticipation inside the box.

'We have players with high potential, and one day players like Dennis or Onel Hernandez or Josh Murphy and Marley Watkins might be able to score 20 goals a season.

'In this moment we have to be honest and say they do not have that level of quality. We must work with them and improve them.'

'We don't have the player who has proved he can score 25 goals at this level. That is a problem,' said the City head coach.

'Clearly it is not just about confidence, because we are seven games unbeaten.

'As a striker myself there are times when I was thinking watching the game, 'We must anticipate better and quicker'.

'I remember in the first half James Maddison put a cross in and Dennis had to realise if he gets to the near post he has an easy goal.

'Then there was another ball that went to the back post and again we needed to react quicker.

'Josh had a shot and it came back off the keeper, but you have to anticipate that could happen and be ready to score an easy goal.

'It sums up our season.

'We dominated the game, created several situations but missed the one quality and that is to score.'
