Daniel Farke is placing the Premier League on red alert Norwich City ace Emi Buendia is yet to get into top gear.

The Canaries' creative spark notched eight goals and served up 12 assists during a memorable Championship winning campaign but has so far left the fireworks to his Norwich City team mates.

The 22-year-old did open his account at Liverpool, with a perfectly-timed assist for Teemu Pukki to grab a second half consolation in a 4-1 defeat, but his head coach warns top flight rivals the Argentine has much more to give.

"He had a difficult pre-season with some injuries and was struggling a bit to get back to the fitness level he needed. I am pleased with him" he said. "A good performance against Liverpool, where he delivered with an assist, then in the last game maybe not the same headlines he had from last season, but we have many players who can grab headlines and make the difference.

"There is always space for improvement.

"My feeling is he is not quite there with 100pc fitness but I am pretty pleased with how he has worked. He is totally on the right path, but he can play better. That is for sure.

"He didn't have a lot of game time in the summer. I had to throw him in against Atalanta and Toulouse in the final home friendlies and although he wasn't fully fit he needed these games.

"His performances were not there but it was the right decision to put him on the pitch. He never suffers with the self-confidence, though, and he is a lot closer now than he was a month ago."

Farke revealed on Friday he enjoyed the challenge of handling Buendia's mood swings.

"Emi is an emotional player, he loves the game and he is never happier than when he has the ball," he said. "You can see the flying arms in training when he hits the post instead of the top corner, this South American temperament.

"He looks so disappointed you would think he had to go to jail for four weeks after missing a chance. I like this attitude and to be able to work with such a player. "You always have to find a balance to calm him down or boost his self-confidence. When he was shining so much last season maybe we had to calm him down a bit more. We have not had to have too many chats this season."
