Cameron Jerome - Bank on Alex Neil to lead Norwich City’s Championship charge

Norwich City forward Cameron Jerome insists Alex Neil's will to win can drive on the Canaries to Championship promotion.

Jerome signed a new longer term contract to stay at Carrow Road earlier this week and the chance to be part of Neil's fightback was too tempting to resist.

'I told the manager I wanted to be here, and he said I was part of his plans,' he said. 'He's very passionate about football and wants to win while also helping the lads improve. He's a leader, and that's the kind of manager you want to play for.

'Since I first joined I've had a great rapport with the fans, who have been magnificent towards me. Myself and my family feel really settled, which is a big thing, so it was a no-brainer to sign on for another three years. I'm absolutely delighted and it's nice to get this deal over the line early on so I can come back fully focused ready for next season.'

Jerome plundered 21 goals in City's successful Championship promotion surge in 2014/15 but a repeat will take a special effort from the Canaries' squad.

'It's important to mentally and physically recover in order to come back with fresh optimism to get the job done and get promoted again,' he told the club's official site. 'That's the challenge for next season; to get promotion at the first time of asking. I've played a number of years in the Championship and it's a very demanding league.

'With 46 games, it's very tough and we're going to be a target for other clubs. Teams will come here and want to raise their game in front of 27,000 people so we've got to show everyone the quality we have. It's up to us as players to make sure we get the club back to where it belongs.'
