Youssouf Mulumbu will be a Norwich City fans' favourite, according to Alex Neil.

City's summer signing capped an impressive display with his first goal for the Canaries in the 2-1 friendly win over FC Augsburg in the final tour match of their training camp in Austria and Germany. Mulumbu was a driving force in midfield, alongside Alex Tettey, and Neil has already seen enough to realise he has recruited a class act.

'He is a fantastic competitor. He is one of those players I think when you watch him as a fan you will like him because he gives his all,' he said. 'When he walks off you can see he is absolutely knackered and he keeps going for the group. I thought he took his goal very well and I felt it worked with him alongside Alex. There may be games when we have to potentially play the two of them together so I think it was important I managed to see that and to see how well they work; they did that in particular in the second half.'

Norwich trailed to a swerving free-kick from ex-Germany international Piotr Trachowski before Mulumbu levelled and Lewis Grabban pounced late on.

'He had two or three really good chances and he took one of them,' Neil said of Grabban. 'I felt he led the line really well for us and although maybe in the first half the way the game went he was probably a bit frustrated he continued to work and got his rewards. Lewis completely understands what I expect of him; in terms of his game and what I am looking for him to do for the team. He does it really well.'
