Norwich City moved up to second in the Championship table with a 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest - the Canaries' third consecutive league win.

City blew a chance from the penalty spot in the 34th minute when Wes Hoolahan was clumsily hauled down by Nicolao Dumitru-Cardoso but Vladimir Stojkovic flung himself low to his left to beat away the Irishman's spot kick.

Norwich were punished for that miss five minutes later when Vellios reacted quickest to slot from six yards out after Eric Lichaj's far post header cannoned back off Michael McGovern's right-hand upright.

Jonny Howson drew Norwich level, however, in the 52nd minute with a cool finish after Jacob Murphy's corner spiralled towards him. The midfielder controlled on his chest and then guided a shot across the angle of the six yard box and in via the far post.

Graham Dorrans sealed the win with a superb low shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
