Norwich Cityhistory-maker Wes Hoolahan insisted his maiden Premier League goal to earn a point at Wigan was all in a day's work.
Paul Lambert praised the Irishman's technique after Hoolahan pounced on Ali Al Habsi's spill in first-half stoppage time to lash into the roof of the home net. City's creator-in-chief preferred to deflect attention away from his part in Norwich's first top-flight goal in six seasons following Steve Morison's set up down the right flank.
'He had a great game,' said Hoolahan. 'He just managed to cross the ball in, the goalkeeper dropped it and I put it in. We're really pleased with our overall performance. (Steve) Morison was a real handful and for his first game in the Premier League he did really well.
'It was entertaining. The two teams had a lot of chances and I thought it was an entertaining game. We had chances to win it as well at the end and I think we could have left with all three points.'
Hoolahan revealed there was plenty of nervous tension in the Canaries' camp ahead of their top-flight bow.
'It was quite intense being the first game of the Premier League season so the players were a bit rusty going into it,' he said. 'In the last 15 minutes they got on the ball a bit more and created a lot of chances but we defended very well.'
Hoolahan hailed Ritchie De Laet's comeback from his first-half mistake.
'He was superb – he made some great blocks and some great tackles,' said Hoolahan. 'He has made a mistake but he has shown in the second half just how good he is.'
