Former Norwich City striker Oli Johnson has been released by League Two club Oxford United. Manager Chris Wilder has offloaded five players to make room for new signings this summer.
Wilder admitted 24-year-old Johnson, who scored three times in eight starts plus nine appearances as a substitute, was slightly unfortunate to miss out.
He said: 'They are never easy decisions, whether they're young players just starting out in their careers. The one which was touch-and-go was Oli Johnson. He had a few problems with injury but came on and did well in some games and was up and down in others.'
Johnson told the Oxford Mail last week he wanted to stay, but he is now a free agent.
