The Scottish PFA are 'dismayed' by comments from newco Rangers owner Charles Green that he will pursue legal claims against the players who refused to join his new company.
PFA Scotland and their lawyers believe the players are free agents under employment law but Green has vowed to fight for transfer money. Ex-Rangers defender Steven Whittaker was unveiled as a Norwich player at Carrow Road yesterday, one of the first of 10 wantaway players to find a new club.
Tony Higgins, chairman of PFA Scotland, said they were 'supremely confident' the players were entitled to seek moves, adding: 'I haven't spoken to a single employment or sports solicitor who agrees with Mr Green's interpretation of the law,'' he said.
City boss Chris Hughton did not want to discuss the legal technicalities of Whittaker's move, saying: 'These matters are dealt with from club to club and, here at Norwich and before my time, they've always done things the right way.'
