Spanish defender Javier Garrido is looking forward to his Premier League return following his season-long loan move to Norwich City from Lazio.

The former Real Sociedad defender made 49 appearances for Manchester City during a three-year spell in the north-west before moving to Rome for 2.5m in July 2010.

Garrido told the club's official website: 'I am really happy. I think it's a great opportunity for me to come back to the Premier League, one of the most important and interesting leagues in the world, so I'm really happy to be here.

'When my agent told me I had the opportunity to come back to England, I didn't have to think too much about it, it was an easy decision and I think it will be a great experience.

'I was here in the Premier League a few years ago, then I decided to move to Italy to try a new experience.

'But when you don't play as much as you can, you have to decide to keep going, and when Norwich asked me to come back to the Premier League, I wanted to, and it's good to be here.

'I think the Premier League is faster, and physically it's more difficult, but my experience tells me it's a fantastic league, and I am so, so happy to be here.

'I am a technical player, but when the ball is there I can make the tackle too. I know what the fans like – and they also like players to be tough and aggressive. I will do my best for the shirt.

'I met my team mates on Thursday, and hopefully on Friday morning I will begin training with everybody. I can't wait to start with the team, with the new manager, the new city, and stadium. I am so pleased to be here and to be involved with Norwich City.

'I know about Norwich and how they came up from the lower leagues, and in a few years they made it to the Premier League. That's because there is a great atmosphere, and the support in the stadium is great, and that is a fantastic atmosphere for a player to play in.'
