Robert Green has received public reassurance he remains an integral part of Mark Hughes' plans at QPR ahead of his first competitive return to Carrow Road since leaving in 2006.

Green was part of a Rangers' backline breached five times against Swansea last weekend, but Hughes insists his reported interest in Inter Milan's Julio Cesar is all part of equipping the Welshman's squad for the battles to come after a dire opening day reverse to the Swans.

'Well, it was my intention to bring two keepers in because we possibly wanted to give the option to the likes of Brian Murphy to go out on loan somewhere,' said Hughes.

'We're still looking. We haven't been able to do that as yet and that was certainly the intention at the start of the season.

'We have worked exceptionally hard this week and there has been a good response. Obviously we're disappointed ourselves and we disappointed our fans on the day.

'From our point of view, we've just got to really focus on the Norwich game and start our season at the weekend because we were caught in the traps against Swansea.'

Hughes has had to put a deal for Tottenham's centre-back Michael Dawson on hold while he focuses on the Canaries tomorrow, but the QPR boss expects a busy end to the transfer window.

'At the moment it is not where I'd hoped it would be,' he said. 'It may change.

'Obviously we've still got days left until the window closes so it might be revisited, but at the moment it is not in a place we think we can progress. There was an issue with personal terms.'
