Long-time rumoured Norwich City managerial target Neil Lennon has left Scottish champions Celtic.

Lennon and his first-team coach Gary Parker have left the Bhoys on Thursday, assistant Johan Mjallby having also recently quit the club.

Managing in England is on Lennon's agenda, as he begins his stint as a pundit for the BBC's coverage of this summer's World Cup in Brazil. However, offers so far have been in short supply – instigating Lennon's Celtic exit.

City's sights have been set on convincing Malky Mackay to join them for a Championship tilt next season, while last season's interim manager Neil Adams remains in the frame for the full-time job replacing Chris Hughton.

Former Watford man Gianfranco Zola has acknowledged on Wednesday he would like the chance to manage Norwich – although it remains to be seen whether his dialogue with the Canaries' board has been enough to sway them in his favour.

City are expected to name their new manager this week, having already postponed their original deadline of last weekend.

Mackay's name has already been linked with the vacancy set to be left by Lennon – but while he tops the Parkhead wish list, it remains to be seen whether the Scottish Premier League and Champions League qualification would be enough to take Mackay away from possible opportunities in and around the Premier League.

Legendary Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has been installed as the bookmakers' favourite for the Parkhead job. The Swede is currently in charge of Falkenbergs in his homeland.
