Neil Adams warns Norwich City must fight 'tooth and nail' to keep their prized assets after Premier League relegation.

The Canaries' boss finishes his short term managerial stint in Sunday's top flight farewell against Arsenal at Carrow Road, but Adams knows City's chances of bouncing back at the first attempt hinge on a crucial summer for the club. Robert Snodgrass, Leroy Fer and Gary Hooper have all been touted with swift exits and Adams expects more speculation in the coming weeks.

'I hope we can keep our best players,' he said. 'It is key to us having a successful season next year. There is a very strong core group of players who have shown the right attitude, the right desire and what Norwich City means to them. We have to fight tooth and nail to keep as many of those players as we can. It might be difficult, it will certainly help if the players want to buy into it and want to have a crack at it, but we understand relegation is going to be tough if teams want to come to take players off us. If they want to be here, great, if they don't want to be here, then it is obviously going to be tough.'

Michael Turner is a free agent this summer but the vast majority of Norwich's first team squad are still under contract.

'I don't think there are too many who are out of contract,' said Adams. 'The situation we are in might mean one or two clubs come looking, that is understandable and it will be for whoever the manager is to decide, and hopefully it will be for me to decide. If not, then there will be decisions to make, because with any team which is relegated, other clubs will come to try to pick out the best ones. Whether players want to stay or don't, that is something the club has to deal with, but in terms of the players who are out of contract I don't think there are many at all, certainly the ones who have featured regularly for myself in these four games.'
