Steven Whittaker has been named in Scotland's 28-man squad for an international friendly against Nigeria at Fulham's Craven Cottage on May 28, but Norwich City team mates Robert Snodgrass and Russell Martin have been left out to rest injuries.

Both featured in the Canaries' final day 2-0 Premier League home defeat to Arsenal that confirmed the club's relegation to the Championship, but Gordan Strachan has opted to leave out two of his key men who are expected to play a major role in Scotland's European Championship qualifying campaign which begins later this year.

Whittaker is joined in the squad by former City striker Chris Martin who has enjoyed a prolific spell at Derby in the Rams run to the Championship play-off final. The 25-year-old earns his first international call-up after scoring 25 goals in 50 appearances this season following a permanent move to the East Midlands last summer.
