Striker Gary Hooper and Belgian midfielder Vadis Odjidja both got 90 minutes under their belts as over-age players for Norwich City in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League this evening, in a 2-0 defeat away at Southampton.

Hooper and Odjidja started for an U21s team captained by out-of-favour defender Sebastien Bassong, for the former Cameroon international's first involvement as an over-age player in the Barclays U21 Premier League this season.

Young midfielder Conor McGrandles, a late signing from Falkirk in the summer transfer window, made his third successive start for City's development team, which also featured the likes of Jacob Murphy and Kyle McFadden.

Goals from Harrison Reed in the 12th minute and Jason McCarthy just after half-time sealed the win for the Saints, in a match played at the Premier League club's St Mary's stadium.

It would seem unlikely that Hooper or Odjidja will feature for City's first team against Charlton at Carrow Road tomorrow night, although manager Neil Adams has not ruled either out.

Norwich U21s: Ben Killip; Louis Ramsay, Kyle McFadden, Sebastien Bassong (C), Harry Toffolo; Reece Hall-Johnson, Vadis Odjidja, Conor McGrandles, Jacob Murphy; Gary Hooper, Jamie Eaton-Collins. Subs: Aston Oxborough (GK), Cameron McGeehan, Ray Grant, Cameron King.
