Neil Adams is targeting six points from Norwich City's festive fixtures and is determined to keep his players' minds focused on business on Christmas Day.

The Canaries have two matches in three days, hosting Millwall at Carrow Road on Boxing Day before going to Reading on Sunday, with both teams struggling in the bottom half of the Championship.

Adams is confident the strength in depth of his squad will come to the fore during the busy period and will have his squad in for training on Christmas Day.

'They'll be in tomorrow at 9.30,' the City boss said of his players' festive training schedule. 'I know some managers don't have players in but I can never remember having a Christmas Day off (as a player), and obviously you have Boxing Day games.

'Of course it's Christmas but you've got to look at it professionally and coldly and we certainly wouldn't give the players the day off before any other game.

'So even though it is Christmas day (training), it's a huge game for us, there's three points and if that means coming in Christmas Day to win the three points then of course we do it.

'The players had Tuesday off but they've been in every other day and obviously they will train after the game with Millwall in preparation for Reading.'

Millwall go into the game with just one win in eight games and just one position above the relegation zone, whereas the Canaries have taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three matches and look to have rediscovered their confidence.

While Reading have won just one of their last six – beating City 2-1 at Carrow Road last month – and have recently replaced manager Nigel Adkins with former West Brom boss Steve Clarke.

The Royals lost their first match under Clarke last weekend, being beaten 1-0 at home by 10-man Watford, and go to fellow strugglers Brighton on Boxing Day.

Although that makes Reading a more difficult proposition to prepare for, Adams is targeting six points from his team's festive fixtures, as they look to climb back into the play-off positions.

'Two games in three days is always demanding but this is where the squad comes into play and obviously we've got a good squad,' the former City midfielder said at his pre-match press conference at Colney this morning.

'We're prepared for this because obviously we knew the fixtures since they came out so it's something that we started to look at a couple of weeks ago, certainly in terms of schedule and maybe even players, picking teams for games, especially if one or two can't play two games in three days.

'So we're well aware of it, we haven't let it interfere, certainly with the Derby game, but of course you go into the game and it's the old cliché, you focus on the next game and with Reading being so close, we've got to be mindful of that game because it's a good opportunity for us to get six points.'

Adams has no fresh injury problems ahead of the Millwall game, although has a slight worry over the fitness of midfielder Alex Tettey, but expects the Norway international to be available.

Belgian midfielder Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe is set to rejoin full training next week following a knee injury he picked up in October and Spanish full-back Javier Garrido is still unavailable with a groin strain, picked up when playing for the club's under-21 side in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Carrow Road last week.
