John Ruddy says Norwich City's squad is just as excited as the fans to see who the Canaries can lure to Carrow Road in the closing days of the window.

Alex Neil has targeted two new faces to build on Norwich's impressive start to life back in the Premier League.

Wolves' have rejected three City bids for highly-rated striker Benik Afobe but Ruddy is confident Norwich's top brass can add to Neil's squad ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

'I think the club are working hard behind the scenes to make things happen,' he said. 'They have identified a few players they would like to bring in, Afobe is already one name who is out there and he would be a terrific addition, but ultimately it is Wolves' decision what they do with their player. Norwich can knock on the door as hard as they can but if there is no answer it is not going to happen.

'I leave it to the people upstairs to work on those things. Any player we bring in I am sure will be as hungry as we are here and willing to do what it takes to keep us at this level. I think the manager and the board are doing well to identify those types of player and if we can bring in a couple more of those with the character and appetite it can only work well.'

Ruddy is in line to return for Sunday's televised Premier League trip to Southampton after sitting out the Capital One Cup win against Rotherham, but there is no place in the squad for Lewis Grabban after his suspension was confirmed by Neil on Friday following his Millers' no-show.

'We were only made aware of it after the game because we were focused on getting the win,' he said. 'Now we have another game Sunday. The club will deal with it the way they see fit. We are not getting involved in that as players. It has nothing to do with us.'
