Norwich City keeper Remi Matthews has had to cut short his impressive season-long loan stint at Scottish Premiership club Hamilton Academical after suffering a shoulder injury that could keep him out for upto three months.
Matthews confirmed the news on his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon after an early exit from Saturday's 1-1 league draw against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The 22-year-old returned to Norwich to be assessed by the club's medical staff and Matthews has now been diagnosed with a torn AC joint in his shoulder, with the player indicating he is likely to be on the sidelines for two to three months.
Matthews, who had previous loan spells at Burton and Doncaster, had earned rave reviews during a 13-game spell for Alex Neil's former club. The City academy product signed a new longer Carrow Road deal in the summer prior to moving north of the border.
