Former Norwich City youth coach Aidy Boothroyd has been made permanent boss of England Under-21s.
The former Watford manager as been in caretaker charge since Gareth Southgate stepped up to replace Sam Allardyce as manager of the senior team in September.
Boothroyd, 45, left Peterborough in 2001 to join City as youth team coach under Nigel Worthington. After two years at Carrow Road, he moved on to become youth development officer and technical director at West Bromwich Albion.
Boothroyd's contract as a national coach at the FA's technical division runs until 2020.
'I am honoured to be given the task of leading England into the U21 European Championship,' said Boothroyd, who was previously England Under-20s boss.
'Having worked closely with this group of players in recent months, I know they are capable of achieving success in Poland in June.'
