Moritz Leitner swapped the Bundesliga for Norwich City because of Daniel Farke.
The former German Under-21 international midfielder won the title in his homeland at Borussia Dortmund, and was on the bench for a Champions League final.
Leitner admits his career has stalled at FC Augsburg in the past 12 months – and Farke is the man to get him on the right track after snubbing other offers to seal a loan move until the end of the season.
'He was the biggest factor in me coming here,' said the 25-year-old.
'We know each other and I talked a lot with him about the club and how to live here. We just wanted to work together. We worked together for a year and a half, maybe two years.
'It helps that I have worked with Daniel. Yes, people called my agent and I could have gone elsewhere but if Augsburg and Norwich could come to a good contract and everyone has a good feeling then I wanted to come here.
'Daniel is a very good coach. He wants to play football and control the game, control the ball, which is what I like. I know what he wants and I hope I can help him soon as he's told me a lot of good things about Norwich.
'I'm concentrated on giving my best to help this club. It's a good experience for me.'

Leitner admits he needs to get to know his new team mates, but is already a big James Maddison fan.
The midfielder had the perfect view of Maddison's latest stunning goal in last week's Championship win at Brentford from the visiting dugout before his late cameo.
The highly-rated German was similarly hyped when he broke through and the 25-year-old can see why Maddison has reportedly attracted admiring glances from a host of Premier League clubs.
'From now what I see he is a great footballer,' said the former German Under-21 captain.
'I like to play with him, even though it has only really been in training at this point. Against Brentford he scored a wonderful goal. We need him in this team, for sure.
'I hope he can score often like that.
'He needs players around him to give him good balls so he can create something.
'We also have other very good players. I will look forward to playing together and having some fun on the pitch.'
Leitner is refusing to look beyond his initial loan stint if he proves to be a hit in the Championship.
'I don't know what happens in the future and don't think of it,' he said.
'For now, I just think of the next game. The past is gone. The future, no-one can predict that. I live for the now, here. I'm very happy to be with my new team.
'For sure, I need a little more time to know every run of my new team mates. Who wants the ball to feet, who wants it behind the lines. That will come.'
